The pros and cons of each Disney season

Hello everyone! KingdomRider here doing my first post on the Power Rangers Union blog! My first post is about the pros and cons of each Disney season. Not all are bad. Bear in mind this is completely a subjective. But this is what I feel anyway. In order from the best till worst. Can I make it clear this is NOT the order of which seasons I PREFER MYSELF, it's the order I feel the production and show quality was best.

1) RPM

Pros: It was dark, yet light-hearted. Serious, yet funny. All in a good way. The actors played their parts really well, and the jokes all come in at perfect times, and none of them seem really out of character. The story went to where no other season has done before: The bad guy had won, and the good guys are simply trying to defend the last bastion of humanity. This is a season I couldn't recommend highly enough, just all around good stuff.

Cons: At times, it just feels like a 30 minute toy commercial.

2) Dino Thunder

Pros: It helped restore continuity, exploring a true account of a past forgetful and childish ranger, having had a long absence, coming back as someone much more maturer, to guide Disney rangers in the right direction. It was a season where they were on top of things, with characters that were likable. It felt like it was a revamped version of MMPR, and I enjoyed it way better.

Cons: Overrated by too many people BECAUSE of that return, but then in that case (because most of the appreciation is JUST for that return and not for the content of the season ITSELF) it's not a true con for the season's run.

3) SPD

Pros: AMAZING dynamic between the cast. Possibly the best inter-group dynamic we've ever had. Again, the story was well thought out in places.

Cons: The way they handled Sam was handled extremely poorly, but even the producer admitted that. The theme (in this case, police) might not warm to everyone.

4) Ninja Storm

Pros: Such an upbeat and charismatic feel, but still felt natural and not forced. Amazing characters.

Cons: The whole "dude" and "extreme sports" thing got a bit tired after a while.

5) Mystic Force

Pros: Well, the story, the twists, alot of it is well thought out.

Cons: People criticize it because it focused too much on Nick, in comparison to the others. I was bothered by this, just a little bit. But I guess my criticism of it was that (like SPD) the whole magic theme might not be to everyone's taste.

6) Jungle Fury

Pros: The series had some great characters and a good story. The theme was really cool, the suits were new and different, and the complete fanboy ideas of it linking with Ninja Storm by the schools just elated me.

Cons: Because of the writer strike, things felt kinda rushed. Things appearing one minute, then not important the next.

7) Operation Overdrive

Pros: It, er...made you appreciate the existence of every other season, ever?

Cons: It had so much potential, but bad acting, and general half arsed effort, made it a failure. Operation Overdrive is probably one of the seasons that sounded cool, on paper.

I realized that I missed Wild Force since it is considered a Disney season. I, however, still consider it a Saban season since it was still under Saban's production. I may go over Saban's next, or if someone else wants to they can?

List of Power Rangers I Think Got Overrated

Here are a list of the Power Rangers I think who are kind of overrated:

Tommy Oliver- Yes he has to be the most overrated of all time. He was an extremely likable character. So he went from sixth ranger to becoming the "Big One" of the Power Rangers series while maintaining a rash personality. His partnership with Kimberly Hart was a popular one which its break-up caused a huge HUH reaction when in Zeo. His return in Dino Thunder became a good reason for older fans to watch the series. He was also known for performing dangerous acts like fighting Lord Zedd one-on-one (but he never killed Lord Zedd). When playing Sentai Dice-O, choose Dragon Ranger, Kiba Ranger, Oh Red, Red Racer and Abare Black to form the "Tommy Five" team.

Zack Taylor- He is one of the coolest characters to be ever established and one of the toughest (but he's not as tough as Trini Kwan). He had a huge fanbase that when he left, Adam was just a shadow to him.

Trini Kwan- She is the first yellow ranger in the Power Rangers franchise. Okay so her Zyuranger counterpart is really male hee hee. She was portrayed as a woman who was hesitant to fight but she was a powerful and skilled martial artist (IMO in almost the same was as the late Mika Koizumi who was the first yellow ranger in Bioman). She had a huge fanbase one way or another which when she left the show, some fans bashed MMPR in general because she was a pretty likable character. They felt Aisha was just a shadow compared to her. IMO she's the most likable character ever to the point that when she left, it was a sad moment. I guess it had to do with Thuy Trang's issues with payroll that she had enough and quit that this fine character left.

Jason Lee Scott- The first red ranger was a fan favorite by many that they felt that Rocky De Santos was nothing more than a shadow compared to him. He was one of the most likable characters and personally, as a Sentai-PR fan, he reminds me of some of the most likable Sentai characters like Kenta in Maskman and Daichi in Turboranger which may contribute to his personality development. Sadly he left during season two. His return in Zeo for awhile as Gold Ranger was something that pleased fans. Sadly he didn't stay for long with those powers until the final battle.

Kimberly Hart- She is one likable character despite the initial start of her as a valley girl. She had a very good chemistry with Tommy Oliver which made her popular and the two had a huge fanbase. Unfortunately her actress Amy Jo Johnson left the set because of personal reasons (and she was given a proper send-off) so soon enough, she and Tommy were broken up with what I consider a badly written episode of a "Dear John letter" which angered some fans. It caused them to bash Katherine Hillard even more. It's revealed she and Tommy are still friends after the break-up in the Turbo movie.

The Relationship of Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa

If there was any PR couple that really lasted long, it was Lord Zedd and Rita. So okay Lord Zedd didn't like Rita when he first appeared on the show because she failed to capture the Earth and banished her away. But he underestimated her that she was able to return to the moon, drugged him with a love potion and ended up marrying her while she planned to take over. But things went rather differently after their rather funny wedding which led to one of the most dangerous alliances in history.

So what happened next? Rita came to truly love Lord Zedd for who he was and not for his power even if he was still under the influence of the love potion. Lord Zedd on the other hand was coming to accept Rita as his wife. The two had rather difficult journeys while designing even deadlier schemes as a couple. Even when Lord Zedd had toned down in terms of his temper, it didn't make him any less dangerous.

So Goldar discovered it was all a sham and tried to administer the antidote but to everybody's surprise, Lord Zedd was still in love with Rita. Theoretically saying, Lord Zedd may have suppressed his feelings for her long enough that even when the antidote was administered, it was no use or that nobody was aware of the potion's fading effects while Lord Zedd's love for her began to surface on its own. Of course while Lord Zedd became less scary, he wasn't getting any safer now that he and his wife came up with better plans, many times nearly spelling the end of the rangers. Their only problem lies on the fact that Rito her brother had become a numbskull even if he helped them destroy the Thunderzords.

So it came to a point that they planned to torture Kimberly Hart by draining her life force away to force the rangers to pilot the Shogunzords. Very wicked move. However their ally Catherine turned against them and replaced Kimberly Hart who fortunately survived. So they did end up destroying the power coins then the Command Center only to discover they had to face the Machine Empire. They did succeed against the Machine Empire but they were still left wandering, no longer finding a place to stay home for some reason. Eventually by Power Rangers in Space, they were turned into human form.

Later, within the TV canon, Rita Repulsa became Mystic Mother although the Sentai counterpart, Rita and Mystic Mother were not the same person. We don't know of what happened to Lord Zedd although their evil son Thrax showed up. When Thrax was born is left out of the question.

Recent Poll Results from Your Votes :)

Finally, I'm getting these outta the way. I haven't been able to figure out how to edit this new Blogger. XD

But further news, I've now sent my admin leaderships to Sean and Kingdom Rider. Please look forward to some fantastic blogs by the new leaders of this peace partnership.

18/21 of voters say they are irritated by the MMPR and Shinkenger fans who shun many other series'. Before we get to the argument whether they're overrated or not, keep in mind these two series' from Sentai and PR have been the first for many. If we all enjoyed them, why can't the little kids?

14/24 votes chose Samurai Sentai Shinkenger over Power Rangers RPM. Both terrific seasons in my opinion. There's no reason for the two to be at war at all, so this poll will hopefully put an end to that.
