Power Rangers' Really Hot Men

I just kind of noticed that there have been a few male Power Rangers who are considered to be a major hit with female fans. They are:

Leo Colbert- There were times that he would rip off his blouse before transforming. This was considered to be kind of eye-catching for the women and ridiculous for some.

Ryan Mitchell- He's the first PR only exclusive ranger with no Super Sentai counterpart. He had an evil tattoo that was slowly killing him.

Cole Evans- He was kind of popular too. The first time I saw him, I felt like he would make a good barbarian type character, more than the other two above. He was really that muscular as a guy, he looks like he could rip anyone apart.

Why I prefer Power Rangers over Super Sentai

People think it's kind of a shocker that I prefer Power Rangers over Super Sentai, but I think Super Sentai is a better franchise, and I like Power Rangers more....if that makes any sense?

Super Sentai has higher quality of writing, characterization, believable performances by the casts, and a bigger budget. Not to mention a better handle on what entertaining action looks like. Power Rangers, on the other hand, is my childhood. I grew up with it. It's the thing that has stayed with me since I started watching it back in '97, and from that point on it's played a large part of my life. The key to continuing success for Power Rangers is always present something new and inventive, even knowing that most of the material comes from Sentai. Without originality, Power Rangers would be known as nothing more than an "English version" of Super Sentai. And no matter how bad the season may be, there is always at least one original thing that wasn't seen in the original material. Like for example, MMPR is about overbearing teenagers living their teenage life while fighting off a evil alien witch and her minions, where as Zyuranger is about ancient warriors from the past defending the planet from their sworn enemy.

Wild Force was an exact replica of Gaoranger, but watered down a little bit, and bad acting. The only thing that was new was Master Org, I think? Another example is Lost Galaxy. The setting was way different from Gingaman, took place in a Space Colony called Terra Venture. As well as added the Megaship, DECA, and Alpha from the previous season.

There was a thriving fandom for Power Rangers long before there was one for Sentai and Toku itself, and I knew people for years based purely on debates about how Astronema was Andros' sister, or why Goldar suddenly became lame in Season 3. You can't override those memories.

No matter how good Sentai is, it will NEVER take the place Power Rangers holds in my heart. I'll probably never grow out of Power Rangers, but I know for sure that I won't ever leave it for Super Sentai. I think both should just be enjoyed on their own merits.

One thing I do like about Sentai is how they let their heroes be their own comic relief. Even someone who's as much of a steadfast adventurer as BoukenRed has his silly side. It used to be with Power Rangers that they'd have the villains played for laughs or comic relief supporting characters like Bulk and Skull while the Rangers took themselves very seriously. The show's gotten better about that though.

These last few series of Sentai have been a let down for me. Last strong Sentai that I thought was really good was Gekiranger. Go-Onger was good, but RPM is amazing. Had a stronger plot, better characters, and a good tone, especially for a Disney season. Shinkenger is claimed as the best, it had a good start I'll admit, but I think it's greatly overrated...the story is too bland for me and episodes were boring. And Goseiger, like Shinkenger, the plot is bland for me. Had a good start until they started bringing in mecha that is really unnecessary and annoying. There's a plot for at least every mecha they introduce. There are a few good episodes here and there, but it's still not all that good. I'm hoping Saban won't let me down with Season 18, what I'm really looking forward to.

Cole Evans in Wild Force is My Favorite PR Red Ranger

Just for some reason, this guy Cole Evans is actually my favorite red ranger in Power Rangers all in all.

So I kind of thought that he's somewhat more interesting than Kakeru Shishi of Gaoranger (well I like both shows actually). Why? Well unlike the other rangers, his storyline of being out of civilization for too long (like Tarzan) to the point he actually and quickly learns to read and write is just something. Honestly speaking, it can't get cooler than that- just imagine- from a jungle boy (and presumably a barbarian) to learning to read and write without enrolling in school because of his connection with nature. I assume he must be a lot stronger than the rest even when out of suit, seeing he has the biggest muscles in the group.

So I kind of thought that how he joined into civilization yet never lost his out-of-suit powers keeps him going. So he was just a rookie- yeah. However he would end up leading a group of people who were raised differently than he was, something a little more interesting than Kakeru Shishi of Gaoranger being a vet. I think that his jungle boy setting makes him more appropriate to lead the Gaorangers. But amazingly unlike the jungle boy Kamen Rider Amazon, he doesn't use much unorthodox fighting tactics.

It turns out to be he also has an interesting backstory with the current Master Org (who turns out to be a human named Viktor Adler) especially when he sought to find his parents whom he later found out was murdered. Although he was angered by it and he was raised as a native, he didn't give in to revenge especially during that awesome battle he had with Master Org. However what he didn't expect that soon enough, that Viktor Adler would become a real Org which soon left him disturbed that somebody who was once a man has become an Org.

Eventually towards the finale, he displays some of his rather bad-ass moves out of suit when the Gaorangers run out of power, going shirtless for the ladies and rescuing somebody as well as doing what is probably the most dangerous move in Power Rangers history- he attempted to attack a giant Master Org (in the final form) by a vine swing, which he survived proving he may have superhuman strength out of suit. Towards the end, he went out to help animals but I'm glad that the writers didn't decide to make him a vet because otherwise, it would mean he needs to go back to school.

Princess Shayla's Song

So far from all the Power Rangers insert songs I've heard, I think this is the best. IMO I think the tune is a little better than the awesome song in Gaoranger which was sung by Tetomu but they almost mean the same. It was later given a fast version at the end of Wild Force episode 25 when both teams celebrated their victories.

This is the Gaoranger version which I think is also awesome but I like the song above better even if overall, I still like Sentai better. :-P

The Best Power Rangers Crossover Ever IMO: Wild Force vs. Time Force

The thing is in Power Rangers Wild Force, I have to say that there was really some originality in the episodes "Reinforcements From the Future" parts 1 and 2 which the Mut-Orgs entered into the present to cause havoc and assistance from the Time Force Rangers was even more necessary to defeat the foes.

So I kind of thought about the whole originality. In Super Sentai, Gaoranger didn't have a movie with the whole Timeranger team, only their own version of Forever Red called "Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai". But here, the concept was kind of original while adding some rather intense new plots especially that Ransik reveals his redemption when he actually helps them destroy the mutant halves of the three Mut-orgs and in turn, he becomes completely human. Also Jen shows she is more bad-ass than Yuuri was in Timeranger (she was more like Mai in Changeman for me) with her military suit and all.

Also, the original footage was just well done. There was just the right amount of action and the fight choreography was done well. The final battle went with a literal BOOM when the three red rangers donned their battlizers, the others fire whatever they can and finished off the three Mut-Orgs (whose designs are just awesome) which of course, foils Master Org's plans to defeat the Power Rangers. I also liked how Ransik and Nadira were involved as reformed people.

Overall, the greatest PR team-up ever.
