MMPR fans vs Zordon Era fans

A couple of major groups in the Power Rangers fandom are the MMPR Fans and the Zordon Era Fans. And like any long-running franchise, we've got sub-groups of the fandom that are constantly at each other's necks. What has this got to do with PR fans vs Sentai fans? Well, peace can't be made amongst the two fandoms, unless peace is made within the two fandoms first. And at the moment, both the Power Rangers and Sentai fanbases are quite broken.

Now, it's obvious that Zordon Era fans love MMPR. Cause after all, it IS part of the Zordon Era. But the problem here is that MMPR fans don't accept Zeo, Turbo, or In Space. Zordon Era Fans complain to the MMPR Fans that MMPR doesn't have any proper ending and that In Space gives the ending of the story that MMPR started. Thus, the entirety of the Zordon Era should be respected. But of course, MMPR fans don't really care about that, for they liked MMPR for other reasons.

MMPR Fans for starters, don't like any PR season that doesn't have the Zyuranger look. These fans have become so accustomed to the suits, that they just don't care for the several new sets of suits that succeed it. Everything that made MMPR nostalgic for the fans are almost completely gone by the time Zeo began. And of course, even more so when Turbo started. MMPR Fans can't even stand to look at In Space, due to how "it doesn't even resemble Power Rangers" (of course, this is when PR took it's huge turn with Judd Lynn). Amongst Zeo, Turbo, and In Space, MMPR Fans apparently dislike In Space the most, due to how it looks the least like MMPR. Of course, many of these fans didn't even bother to watch In Space due to many of them leaving after Turbo. This also angers Zordon Era Fans. Amongst the fans of the Zordon Era, the chances of one liking In Space the most is very high. So this causes some conflict between the two groups.

Though a lot of MMPR fans never really watched beyond Turbo. A lot of MMPR fans just stopped when Kimberly got replaced by Kat. And even more stopped when Zeo started, due to the major changes (including a new theme song). The Zordon Era fans, quite a good portion of them continued to watch PR even after In Space. Most likely as far as Wild Force. Other Zordon Era fans just stopped with In Space, wishing to keep Power Rangers good in their minds, as "Countdown to Destruction" seemed perfectly complete for them. It's possible that the MMPR Fans could just be a fan group, that's separate from the rest of the Toku fandoms, and prefer to stick to their nostalgia (which of course, is okay).

Honestly, I don't think there really needs to be much conflict amongst these two groups. But the Zordon Era Fans don't really like how the MMPR fans refuse to watch the end of the story that they started. I can understand how they would feel. I personally would go crazy if I didn't have a completed beginning, middle, and end for a story. But, the MMPR fans are really just in their own group. I doubt they even care much about the fans of the Post-MMPR seasons. Though plenty MMPR fans still attack the other fans, which is a minor problem.

  1. I really have to admit I berated Power Rangers during the Zordon era seeing my favorite characters leave one by one rather than let them end in a full circle. :-P

  3. A lot of MMPR fans are just too closed minded to even think about watching anything beyond MMPR. They only like "the originals," and its a shame. In Space is one of the best seasons ever.

  4. Yes.
No offense, but MMPR fanboys are the types of fans that I tolerate the least in the PR fandom. Really, most of them are too close minded to even watch beyond MMPR because they only grew up with MMPR and think the rest seasons "suck" compared to it due to being very different. I personally think that MMPR is far away from being awesome as people claim it to be. Many fans say the action is fantastic, I wouldn't. Others say that it gives many themes like friendship, love, etc; but the problem with it is that they don't take those themes to their fullest potential and are not executed as well as it could be. Plus it can get somewhat repetitive and sometimes boring. And there are others that say that MMPR has an amazing storyline, I ask myself how because MMPR doesn't really have a solid plot or has no proper ending, especially in the first season, which is just full of fillers. The only thing that I really like about the show was the music, especially its opening theme.
IMO, I would prefer watch In Space and later seasons than the 3 seasons of MMPR (Turbo was worse, and I like zeo more, but it somewhat felt the same like MMPR). Why? Because those seasons actually had an engaging plot unlike MMPR, which pretty much had no story, and it also had proper endings, and a good one.

  6. WHEN I WAS A KID GROWING UP I ALWAYS LOVE WATCHING THE POWER RANGERS AND EVEN THOE I'M IN HIGH SCHOOL I DON'T GIVE A SHIT. I STILL LIKE WATCHING THE POWER RANGERS.IT BRINGS BACK ALOT OF GOOD OLD MEMORYS.ON A SATURDAY MORNING I WOULD GET UP AND WATCH THE WILD FORCE POWER RANGERS. IT HAD ALWAYS TOUCH MY HEART WHEN I WAS A KID BUT NOW SOME PEOPLE SAY IT GAY OR IT'S BORING? THE POINT IS I DON'T CARE HOW LAME THE SHOW MIGHT BE? I USE TO HAVE THE ACTION FIGURES AND THE POSTER. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT WATCHING THE POWER RANGERS IT WAS ENTERTAINING THERE WAS ACTION AND LOTS OF GREAT FEATURES. I WILL ADMIT I LIKE THE OLD VERSION IT WAS WAY BETTER THAN POWER RANGERS IN SPACE OR THE WILD FORCES. NOTHING CAN'T CHANGE THE WAY HOW THE SHOW WAS. I MEAN EVERY ONE HAS CHOICES WEAHER NOT TO LIKE OR TO DISS LIKE WHAT THEY SEE ON TV. MY OPOIN I DON'T CARE HOW THE OLD VERSION WAS BESIDE I STILL LIKE WATCHING IT. ANY ONE CAN TELL ME THAT I'M A RETARD OF STILL LIKING THE OLD VERSION OF THE POWER RANGERS. THERE WAS ONE ROLL I LIKE IN THE SHOW AND THAT WAS ZORDON? HE WAS A GOOD ROLE MODEL FOR HIS RANGERS HE KNEW WHAT HE SAID MADE SENCES BUT I GUESS THERE ARE SO MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SHOW AND HOW THE STORY LINE WAS. THE FACT WAS? IT WAS PUT TOGETHER AS A SCENE AND A ACT AND ALSO A ROLL. MOST OF THE TIME THE EDNING WOULD HAVE MORE PARTS TO IT. MMPR ITS STILL GOOD. THERE ARE ALOT MORE OTHER POWER RANGERS BESIDE THE ONE THAT I CALL OUT BUT BECAUSE I'M SO USE TO WATCHING WHAT I GREW WITH IT JUST THAT I'M MORE ATTACH TO THE OLD VERSION. I WILL WATCH ANY OTHER POWER RANGERS BUT I LIKE THE OLD ONE BETTER. IT BRINGS BACK MEMORYS TO ME WHEN I WAS A LITTLE KID SO I STILL ENJOY WATCHING THEM NO OFFENSE.

  8. Power Ranger basically sucked after Zeo. In Space seems OK overall, but I probably wouldn't waste my time on any of the season after In Space. Just my opinion.
